Changing Horses in Mid-stream with Barbara Spencer

In 1967, considering herself to be destined for a life of mediocrity, Barbara Spencer hightailed it to the West Indies to watch cricket, the precursor to a highly colourful career spanning three continents, in which she was caught up in riots, wars, and choosing Miss World. An award-winning children’s author, with a dozen or more books to her name, Barbara decided to give up writing, citing the traffic in Hemel Hempstead. Instead, she changed genres and age groups and embarked on a 5-book series. Published at the end of 2018, The Year the Swans Came was received with great acclaim. Book 2 of the series, The Click of a Pebble was published in September.
